The new design for the U.S. embassy in London was revealed last week. The newly proposed building definitely has a glamorous look. As some have described, it is an "iconic embassy," especially when one compares it to the current embassy located at Grosvenor Square, central London.
But some disagree, claiming that the design looks like a medieval "fortress" -- quite fitting for Europe, I suppose -- isolating itself with a pond. What sort of image would it project to the Londoners?
Embassies are one of the "representatives" of the American people abroad. How should the Americans feel about being represented to the English people -- one of America's closest allies -- in this new way.
